Henry Cejudo Names The Only Heavyweight Who Can Beat Jon Jones

Jon Jones, Henry Cejudo, UFC

Henry Cejudo believes only one heavyweight is capable of beating former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but he too has a little more than a puncher’s chance.

Jones last fought at UFC 247 in February 2020, where he defeated Dominick Reyes by a controversial unanimous decision to defend his 205 pound title, which he vacated a few months later in August. Since then, ‘Bones’ has been teasing a move up to heavyweight and has been linked with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, former kingpin Stipe Miocic, and Ciryl Gane, but things are still up in the air, courtesy of the MMA legend’s personal troubles and contractual issues with the UFC.

In September last year, Jones was arrested on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence and damaging a police vehicle, after which he was suspended from his longtime training facility, Jackson Wink MMA. He has since been switching between a Jackson Wink affiliate gym and Cejudo’s Fight Ready facility. Needless to say, ‘The Messenger’ has been thoroughly impressed with the Albuquerque native.

Henry Cejudo On Jon Jones

Speaking on his Triple C and Schmo Show, Cejudo said that he believes only Ngannou is capable of beating Jones due to his one-punch knockout power.

“There ain’t nobody in the heavyweight division that really gonna touch him,” Cejudo said. “The only guy that has a chance to beat Jones is Francis Ngannou with his knockout power. But even that man, Jon Jones can strike himself, he can wrestle, he can take out legs. You almost need a damn grizzly bear to beat Jon Jones. That’s the only way.”

Cejudo is planning to return from retirement, with his manager Ali Abdelaziz expected to notify USADA to re-enter him into the drug testing pool on Monday. Abdelaziz said that his client will likely return to action at the end of this summer.
