After a loss to Phoenix on Tuesday, Brooklyn is on the road in Sacramento, tipping off at 10:10pm ET. Scheduled to start at the same time, MVP candidate Nikola Jokic leads his Nuggets against the Jazz.

Odds as of Feb 2nd at FanDuel Sportsbook

Luka Doncic, who was the preseason favorite in NBA MVP odds, has the highest points line at 28.5 on Wednesday night, just ahead of All-Star starter Ja Morant.

Grizzlies Will Hold Barrett in Check

RJ Barrett is coming off a 4-for-14 night in the win over Sacramento. His three-point shot deserted him, as he went one-for-eight from deep. It was his worst scoring performance since the turn of the year.

The play of Barrett has been one of the few positives for the Knicks of late. He averaged 21.8 points per game in January, which might make this 19.5 line seem on the low side. Barrett’s season average is still just 16.3, however, and he’s hit this over just three times in his last eight games.

This also isn’t a great matchup for the former third overall pick. He’s facing a Memphis team which ranked seventh in defense in January. Barrett also relies on scoring in the paint, with 61% of his shots coming at the rim or in short mid-range. This number increased to 65% in January.

While the three-pointer falling has been a big part of his increased production, most of Barrett’s scoring comes in the interior. Memphis has the second-best opponent field goal percentage at the rim and ranks well at defending short mid-rangers, too.

Barring an explosive night from three, Barrett is going to struggle to reach 20 points. Take the under.

  • Pick: RJ Barrett under 19.5 points (-116)

Simons Runs the Offense

Anfernee Simons had a night to forget against the Thunder. Then again, he was due a quiet one after a spectacular run through January. Simons’ scoring grabbed the headlines, of course, but he also demonstrated improvement as a playmaker.

He averaged 6.7 assists per contest in January. That’s more than Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook. Simons has averaged 13.4 potential dimes across his last 10 games, which includes the blip against Oklahoma City where he clocked just two assists. Even in that game, though, he registered eight potential assists.

Simons might be sharing the playmaking workload since CJ McCollum returned, but there’s no doubt Simons is running point more often than not. McCollum is averaging just 8.4 potential assists to Simons’ 13.4.

Portland should give the Lakers a tough game on Wednesday night. Los Angeles’ defense is still no better than average despite Anthony Davis’ return.

Simons has hit this over in 12 of his last 15 games. It’s great value at -104.

  • Pick: Anfernee Simons over 5.5 assists (-104)
